Ardingly Steam Fair

We were founded in 1975 for the preservation of historic vehicles and machinery and are based in Horsham, Sussex.

What interests do our members have? A quick scan of the latest newsletter showed the following!

Historical Vintage Veteran and Classic Cars, Coaches, Buses, Machinery; Agricultural Petrol Diesel and TVO and other Tractors , Cultivators and Lawnmowers; Military and Industrial Machinery, Stationary Engines; Farming, Fairgrounds, Preservation and Restoration,   Memorabilia, Railways, Trains, Models, Workshops, Welding Soldering and Brazing, Metalwork, Motor Bikes, Pedal Cycles, Woodwork. Plus all the associated accessories - Tyres, Oil, Lubricants and Fuels, not to mention the Spanners,Saws,Planes, Lathes and Drills, Blowlamps, Adzes, Billhooks, Hammers, Dung Forks and thousands of specialised tools used in bygone industries, workplaces and the home.

Then there are the members who collect ephemera - tickets and tins, boxes and posters as well as what were once everyday household items - irons, dollies, mangles.

Our members visit or help in running  Shows, Rallies and Museums where the public can see equipment performing the jobs that they were designed to do as well as owning many of the items mentioned above. Each month our newsletter has at least one page detailing events and another one of adverts that help our members enhance their collections by buying or selling items. We enjoy a varied programme of events throughout the year. We also have visiting specialists who talk on diverse subjects like the history of the Post Office, Police Force and Military or the life of.... And some of our members come from backgrounds that are nowadays considered to be part of living history - jobs and lifestyles that are now almost extinct.

In fact,something for everyone to join in and enjoy... We really want you to come along and join us.
